Both of these Film Culture pieces are wonderful to see, thank you! Those above images are so strange and beautiful. In some ways they remind me of the “nonsense” images and text by Lear… And this Deren text is so nice to read, as I was recently reading a piece by her husband, Alexander Hammid, in a 1979 Film Culture about sound and silence and theater and his earlier films…

yeah, i love this kind of "beat" aesthetic, typwriter cut and paste letraset etc. i'd love to see that hammid piece. how in the world are we reading old film cultures at the same time... eek.
