when rain becomes stars...

"a fine drizzle began to fall and, each time they passed a street-lamp, every drop became a star."

georges simenon, maigret and the hundred gibbets.

beautiful! I just started reading a Simenon novel yesterday..."A Man's Head".

flip side:

" A raw light fell from a sky that was like a dirty ceiling. The pavement still showed traces of the previous nights rain. And the passers-by had the resentful look of people who were not yet used to the idea that summer was over."

yeah, he's great. i like the dark novels a little better than the maigret stuff, but it's all good. that's a wonderful opposite to this quote! thanks.
