A wonderful collection of quotes you have accumulated here… ! I really love Meyrink and have always wanted to read White Dominican… that first quote of his reminds me a bit of the Kawabata excerpt I posted – the strip of sky like a river between the mountain ridges… I’ve not read any Onetti – but so amazing!!! Always nice to find those kind of perimeters….

yeah, so far the white dominican is amazing. you should definitely read the shipyard by onetti, it's a great novel with a lot of beautiful rusty decay. i don't know anything about him or any of his other works. the shipyard is in print.
